Website Submission Guidelines

The California-Nevada Section, AWWA Website is located at http://www.ca-nv-awwa.org. The purpose of the site is to provide up-to-date information about the Section and the water works industry in a dynamic and accessible format. To this end, we encourage all committees to submit information about their activities to be featured on the Website. Each committee has its own dedicated page on the site.

SUBMISSIONS:
CA-NV Section Divisions and Committees can submit committee rosters and seminar announcements, promote committee functions, post agendas and meeting minutes, as well as provide links to other nonprofit organization websites of benefit to the water works industry. Educational events such as seminars and workshops will be featured extensively in both the Calendar and individual Committee reports.

The CA-NV, AWWA Website also accepts articles of general interest to the water industry from various sources. Submissions may be made at any time. Article content should be generic in nature - no "promotional" articles for a particular brand of product or service will be accepted. Articles may be reviewed and edited for technical accuracy and clarity. There are no limits to article length, but it is recommended that articles be kept to 1000 words or under for ease of reading.

FORMATS:
All articles, announcements, and other text should be submitted in ASCII text format (.TXT), HyperText Markup Language (.HTM or .HTML), or Microsoft Word 97 or earlier format (.DOC). Any charts or tables should be sent in either Microsoft Excel 97 or earlier (.xls) or PowerPoint (.ppt). We use Microsoft Front Page on an IBM PC platform to author and maintain the Website.

Photographs can be submitted in either GIF (.GIF) or JPEG (.JPG) formats. JPEG is recommended for photos, while GIF is good for solid-color graphics. We can also scan photos, but only if they are prints. Any photos or graphics sent electronically should have a resolution of 72 dots per inch (dpi).

We can also work with illustrations created in CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator. We use CorelDraw 8 in the Section office. Illustrations should be saved in CorelDraw (.CDR) or Illustrator (.EPS) formats.

In the event you do not have access to email or floppy disks, you may send or fax a hard copy of your text. Please set it in at least 10 point Helvetica or Arial so it can be read easily by our OCR program. Please mail in any photos or graphics you may have, as faxes do not scan well.
