CA-NV-AWWA Course - (FULL)
Advance Water Treatment

Objective: To help prepare the student for the DHS treatment plant operator exam grade T3-T4, and prepare the student for journeymen level and higher plant operator work in water treatment facilities.
Overview: This course is a continuation of the Intermediate Water Treatment course.  The following is covered during this course:  Plant operator, supervisor, and manager responsibilities at a master level, hydrological cycle and affect, ground and surface water sources, source water management, California State DHS regulations related to public water systems, common water contaminants and affect, limnology, basic applied water chemistry, water treatment plant processes and controls, treatment chemicals, Fluoridation, revere osmosis and other membrane technologies.  Disinfection methods, C-T calculations, filter surveillance and monitoring practices, microbiology, sampling procedures, public notification, wells, pumps, distribution system operations, water hydraulics, water quality testing and action levels, and the public health aspects of a potable water supply.  Advanced applied water mathematics will be practiced each week.

You'll get insight on how to balance increased demand with shrinking resources, how to do more with less, and the role of life cycle thinking, overall building of systems, and sustaining.
