Groundwater Workshop-TO

Description:
Overview of groundwater aspects that pertain to the drinking water industry.  Identify groundwater sources and discuss factors which influence water quality and quantity, followed by a review of the groundwater management practices.  This will include a discussion on regulatory requirements and current legislation intended to address overdraft issues, groundwater recharge and groundwater protection.  The workshop also presents an overview on groundwater well design and construction methods, as well as pump and motor equipment.  It ends with a selection of water quality issues specific to groundwater systems, i.e.:
  • Iron
  • Manganese
  • Nitrate
  • Chloride
  • Conductivity
  • Hardness
Treatment processes such as chloramination, fluoridation, pH adjustment and corrosion control will be discussed.
Finally, issues related to the mixing of two different source waters, surface water and groundwater will be discussed.

This workshop is 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Earn up to 8 contact hours.
