Registration for webinars is a 2-step process.  Once you have registered here, please look for five emails titled "Your Webinar Registration is Almost Complete" for the link to complete the registration process for each webinar in Zoom.  After registering in Zoom you will receive five confirmation emails containing your unique link to each of the webinars.

During the webinar, please check the participant list to make sure your name appears.  Contact hours will only be issued to the names that appear on the participant list.

This series of five webinars will discuss various advanced water treatment operations, topics and processes.  Advanced water treatment technology incorporates a multiple barrier approach to water purification including disinfection, physical separation and other advanced processes.  These tracks can be beneficial for someone taking the AWTO 3 or higher.

Key Topics Include:
  • Track A: Water sources, membrane technology, ion exchange, indirect potable reuse (IPR), the Orange County Water District Groundwater Recharge System (GWRS), IPR log removal credit, and instrumentation and controls.
  • Track B: Water reuse, membrane bioreactors, granular activated carbon (GAC), iron & manganese removal, digital systems & PLC technology, and SCADA systems.
  • Track C: Safety, security, & emergency response; brackish water & desalination; chlorine & chlorine dioxide; and de-chlorination, ultra violet light & advanced oxidation process.
  • Track D: Biofiltration, sampling, ozone (systems & safety), critical control points, and Pure Water Projects (technology & operations).
  • Track E: Compliance with regulations & operational permits; alternatives to fully advanced treatment trains; I.P.R. usage & best practices for both ground water replenishment & surface water augmentation; other water sources creating ground water issues such as PFAS; water re-stabilization; and leaching of metals from the soil.

Instructor: Henry Palechek

Henry Palechek is a retired water utility supervisor with 34 1/2 years of public service.  He started his water career at the City of San Diego in 1988 and finished it at Helix Water District.  Helix Water District has a conventional 106 MGD water treatment plant with ozone as its primary disinfectant, a 50 square mile water distribution system, serving about 500,000 connections including delivering water to three other districts.  Henry has been teaching community college classes in water technology since 1993.  He holds a BS degree in Information Systems and four AS degrees in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Electronic Technology, and Computer Science.  He currently holds a California T5 and D3 certification and an AWWA CA/NV AWTO 5.
