Lead & Copper Rule Revisions & Improvements Workshop

This is a FREE Workshop for Small Public Water Systems, Community and Non-Community Water Systems serving a population of 10,000 persons or fewer Only.

Description:
The purpose of this learning event is to provide California water system operators with a working-level knowledge of the requirements of the 2021 Lead & Copper Rule Revisions and 2023 Lead & Copper Rule Improvements.

This is a 6-hour in-person classroom training.  The session is designed around RCAC's participant-centered training techniques.  To the greatest extent possible, participants in this workshop will learn through hands-on activities rather than PowerPoint lectures.

Effective December 16, 2021, the USEPA overhauled the 1991 Lead & Copper Rule in response to numerous significant failures of the existing regulations - most notably Flint, MI in 2014.  In December 2023 EPA proposed "improvements" to these regulations.

These new regulations, known as the Lead & Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) and Lead & Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) impose significant new requirements on all CWS and NTNCWS.  Operators, managers, and governing authorities of these systems will have to comply with major changes by the October 16, 2024, deadline.  It is therefore very important that all water system personnel understand the new LCRR requirements and the actions they need to take now to meet the new (tight) regulatory deadlines.

Participants Will Learn:
  • The requirements of the new lead service line inventory
  • Lead service line replacement requirements
  • Monitoring childcare and school facilities
  • New monitoring requirements
  • Expanded communications programs
  • More stringent responses to elevated lead levels

The recommended audience includes operators, managers and board members.

This workshop is 8:30 am - 3:30 pm on March 26.
Contact hours will not be issued until your PWSID number is submitted on the registration form.
