Description:
This is one in a series of five separate webinars that will discuss various advanced water treatment operations, topics and processes.  Advanced water treatment technology incorporates a multiple barrier approach to water purification including disinfection, physical separation and other advanced processes.  The tracks can be taken in any order and will discuss a variety of topics.  These tracks can be beneficial for someone taking the AWTO 3 or higher.  This webinar will cover the following:
  • Safety, Security and Emergency Response
  • Brackish Water and Desalination
  • Chlorine and Chlorine Dioxide
  • De-chlorination, Ultra Violet Light and Advanced Oxidation Process

This webinar is 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm on September 13.

Instructor: Henry Palechek

Henry Palechek has been working in the water field since 1986.  He started at the City of San Diego and later moved to Helix Water District.  Helix has a 106 MGD water treatment plant with ozone as its primary disinfectant, a 50 square mile water distribution system, serving about 500,000 connections which includes delivering water to three other districts.  Henry has been teaching community college classes in water technology since 1993.  He holds a BS degree in Information Systems and fours AS degrees in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Electronic Technology and Computer Science.  He currently holds a California T5 and D3 certification and an AWWA CA/NV AWTO 5.

ABOUT AWTO®  CERTIFICATION
Drinking water, wastewater or water reuse operators working at facilities using advanced water treatment technologies and related control processes may be interested in earning the new, voluntary AWT Operator (AWTO®) Certification.
AWT Operators protect public health by ensuring a supply of safe and high-quality drinking water from advanced water reuse facilities.
Operators who currently hold a Grade 3 certification for Wastewater Treatment Operator or Water Treatment Operator in California or Nevada are eligible to apply for the AWT3 exam. Be sure to download and read the candidate handbook at AWTOperator.org.

All fees are non-refundable thereafter. Transfers are based on availability. No transfer requests will be authorized if they are not received more than 15 days prior to class start date. A 100% refund or credit of your registration fee will be issued if a class is canceled by the Section.
